We have received guidance from British Gymnastics regarding the Government’s “Reopening Roadmap” for the easing of lockdown restrictions and we will be working with British Gymnastics to open as soon as possible after 12th April.Please note that at this stage any guidance and dates that have been announced could change depending on how successful the easing of restrictions are. We will continue to keep you updated.

Sad news for gymnastics clubs everywherePrime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that a new national lockdown will come into effect in England. Given the guidance, we are advising all clubs to close with immediate effect. We know this is a worrying time for the gymnastics community and we will provide a full update as soon as we have all the details on how this will impact gymnastics.

Dear MembersFurther to both Devon and Cornwall moving into Tier 3 and the delaying of Senior School pupils returning to school until Monday 18th January, we have had to give more thought to when to reopen the gym club.Several of our gym classes are made up of mixed year groups and we also have Member families with children across multiple year groups who all attend gym. It would be extremely difficult to monitor the situation of all gymnasts attending gym and so it is with regret that, in order to keep Members and Coaches Covid-Safe, the Trustees of NDDGC have decided that the gym club will remain closed for the meantime and reopen in line with the return to onsite schooling of all Senior School pupils.We are sorry to be writing again with news of more delays to the return to gym, but we must consider the wellbeing of all Members. Fees paid for classes not taken due to the Club’s closure will once again be carried forward. Thank you again for your understanding. We are very frustrated at not being able to return to gym but hope that the testing that is going to be put in place and the vaccines which are becoming available, will mean that once we do restart classes it will be possible for us to remain open and move forward at the Club, invite new members and increase capacity.We will be in touch with a further update before opening.Best regardsThe TrusteesNorth Devon Display Gymnastics Club04.01.21

We hope that you are all keeping well and looking forward to Christmas.Emails with reminders of class times for the anticipated restarting of gymnastics in January have been emailed to all members currently in classes.As I’m sure you are all aware, the Covid-19 regulations have been changing frequently and often with very little notice. With this in mind, we will also be sending out an email on Monday 4th January to either reconfirm that classes will be restarting that week or to advise of any changes. Please check your email before coming to gym in January.

Following the Government’s lifting of Lockdown and the introduction of the new tiered Covid restrictions, the Trustees of NDDGC have been discussing the options for reopening.We were hoping to reopen in December, however, the continuing Covid situation in the local area – Year Groups and smaller bubbles self-isolating and the closure of whole schools – will affect our Members as well as Coaching staff and their families, making operating the gym club very difficult.Because of this, we feel that it is advisable to remain closed during December and restart classes on 4th January.We appreciate that this will be disappointing news but we feel for a number of reasons, including those mentioned above as well as consistency of coaching and Member and Coach safety, that it is the best option.We would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and New Year and will be in touch soon to reconfirm class times and start dates for the new year.Emails have been sent to all members currently in classes.Kind regardsThe TrusteesNorth Devon Display Gymnastics Clubwww.northdevongymnastics.org.ukmembership@northdevongymnastics.org.uk
